We partnered with Anu Institute of Neuro and Cardiac Sciences to set up a free healthcare screening camp to many underprivileged patients near Vijayawada, India. Over 600 patients attended this camp and were able to undergo various screening tests and given counseling by medical personnel. Many undiagnosed patients were found to be suffering from ailments such as heart disease, diabetes, and neuropathic problems. We hope to establish many more of these camps in the future!
We are currently working with Title 1 schools, such as William Wirt Middle School, in Maryland to improve the health literacy of students and their parents and educate them on basic healthcare. We are setting up these resources approved by our advising physicians and are looking to present and distribute them to the underprivileged families at these schools.
We have collaborated with Ramesh Hospitals to bring physicians on site to welfare schools in rural parts of south India. Our first effort was at a school in Guntur, India. Physicians from Ramesh Hospitals were able to give talks and presentations to the students and their parents at these schools. These talks focus on the importance of vaccinations, common healthcare precautions to take in these rural settings, and improving the overall health literacty of these populations. We look forward to doing more of these in the future in different areas and schools as well.
We also work on organizing fundraisers for various healthcare initiatives and also are looking to contribute to such causes as well. The money we collect goes towards creating all our programs such as the free healthcare camps and educational services we provide to those in need.
